Passenger Services Agent

Location: Poole

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Passenger Services Agent to join our friendly team at Poole Port on a Part Time basis.

Our business is built around offering our customers a memorable experience when travelling with us and it all starts with our Passenger Services Agents. This role involves assisting passengers at check in, answering enquiries and making new bookings both over the counter and telephone. On top of that, a huge responsibility of the role is about ensuring the Port is safe and the correct procedures are followed in an emergency.

Offering great customer service is at the heart of our business, so the ideal candidate will thrive in ensuring our customers have a high-quality experience when travelling with us. We are looking for someone with great interpersonal and communication skills, who is able to empathise with customers who may have had a disrupted journey. You will also need to be familiar with following Health and Safety regulations as well as procedures for cash and till handling.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure best working practice, processes and procedures are followed, paying particular attention to company health and safety regulations
  • Ensure correct COSHH and safe working practices are adhered to
  • Liaise with the duty Passenger Services Manager on a daily basis and highlight any H&S issues
  • Be fully aware of port and terminal emergency procedures
  • Provide a high level of customer service in accordance with Condor Ferries standards.
  • Assist in the checking-in of both vehicles and foot passengers and the marshalling of vehicles.
  • Assist in the preparation and completion of all paperwork and administrative procedures relating to all vehicle, passenger, freight and vessel movements
  • Undertake the efficient over the counter bookings and enquiries
  • Provide the smooth and efficient processing of all basic reservations promoting all company products and services
  • Assist in achieving targets and standards as set down by the Ports and Operations Management team
  • Be competent in cash and till handling procedures
  • Receive payment for the carriage of freight, goods, passengers and their vehicles ensuring that all payments are reconciled accurately.
  • Assist the Contact Centre when required

 

The ships leave Poole dependant on the tides, which means that there are early shifts on a regular basis and you will be required to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

In return, we can offer a competitive hourly rate, a generous pension scheme and concessionary travel on our ships.

This is a fixed term contract until 31st October 2017.

Relief Master

Location: Seagoing

Condor Ferries operates a fleet of 4 vessels between the UK south coast (Portsmouth and Poole), the Channel Islands and France (St Malo).

We have an exciting opportunity for a Relief Master for service, primarily, on our High-Speed Craft based either in Poole or Saint Malo.

The successful candidate will be a team player looking to further their career within a varied and enjoyable working environment, possess previous experience of commanding and handling High Speed vessels, and be a self-motivated and dynamic individual with proven leadership ability.

Master Unlimited CoC, and fluent written and spoken English are essential.

An initial probation period in the rank of Chief Officer will be required to obtain the Type Rating and required route experience to obtain Pilotage Exemption Certificates for St Helier, Saint Peter Port and either Poole or Saint Malo.

Freight Operations Clerk

Location: Guernsey

We are looking for a Freight Operations Clerk to be based in Guernsey, reporting to the Freight Manager.

This role will assist in completion of the Freight movements within the Port of Guernsey, including manifesting, control of the loading and discharge processes, and carrying out inspections of trailers and freight vehicles.

This is a varied role combining office duties and activities in and around the Port. This is a Customer facing role with a strong focus on providing a high quality of service for our clients.

To apply for this role you must have experience of using Microsoft Office packages and the ability to pick up new IT systems quickly. You must have an excellent level of customer service skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly within a fast paced environment.

This role also requires a high level of initiative, strong problem solving, and the ability to remain level headed and calm in a sometimes hectic environment.

Quay Marshall

Location: Portsmouth

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Quay Marshal as part of our Freight Team at Portsmouth Port. This role involves management of the vehicles for departures and arrivals into the Port, escorting customers to and from the terminal building, carrying out location checks and marshalling traffic on and off the ships.

Offering great customer service is at the heart of our business, so the ideal candidate will have experience in a customer facing role. It’s also important that you like working in the outdoors, as you will be required to work outside in all weather conditions. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Main Responsibilities

  • To inspect trailers on condition and record temperatures
  • To receive in unaccompanied cars and inspect condition
  • To deal with the collection of unaccompanied cars
  • Carry out trailer location checks
  • Collect/deliver customers from/to the Terminal Building
  • Receive in stores deliveries
  • Marshal traffic on/off the vessels.

This position involves working shifts and weekends worked on a rota basis. The hours of operation cover from 6am to 10pm.

In return you can expect a salary of £15,600 per annum, a pension and concessionary travel on our ships.

Marketing Executive

Location: Poole

We are looking for a Marketing Executive to join our highly successful and innovative team based in Poole, reporting to the Head of Marketing. Working as part of a small and friendly team, you will be responsible for the implementation of Marketing and Advertising campaigns to support passenger ticket sales, across all Condor Ferries routes in both the UK and Channel Islands regions.   

This is a broad role covering both online and offline campaigns. We need someone who will bring new ideas to the table and in return you’ll enjoy a varied role getting stuck in to all our marketing and communications activities, whilst building strong relationships across the business. 

This is a hands-on role, for a self-motivated candidate, with a real energy and enthusiasm. To succeed, you will be confident, possess excellent communication skills and a creative flair, have an eye for detail and strong project management skills.  We monitor the performance of all our activities constantly, so you’ll also need strong analytical and numeracy skills. 

The ideal candidate will have either a Bachelors Degree or a Professional Marketing Qualification at Diploma level and proven experience in a marketing role. In return, we can offer a challenging and varied role where you will be able to see how your work contributes to the success of Condor Ferries.
