Fleet Engineering Intern

Fleet Engineering Intern 

Placement to commence 1st of July 2016                        

Placement Duration:   12 Months

Disciplines accepted:
A predicted 2:1 degree (minimum) in either a BEng, MEng or MSc
            - Mechanical
            - Naval Architecture / Marine 

The role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual wishing to gain work experience in the marine industry as part of their Degree course. In addition to the technical analyst role, the chosen candidate will gain first-hand experience of working with and around experienced Marine Engineers, both in the Fleet Engineering office and in the field (through exposure to yearly ship dry-docks). This experience will provide a good foundation for any candidate interested in pursuing a career as a marine engineer or with a ship classification society.

You will be employed as a full time Fleet Engineer and be treated as such.Students aren’t taken on as an extra resource; they are needed to fulfil the role of an engineer and contribute to the design and development of the vessels. The work is real, interesting and relevant to your studies. 

Our open plan office layout and management strategy promotes effective and timely communication and teamwork. 

As part of your responsibilities as a Fleet Engineering Intern you will be required to communicate with external suppliers as well as other departments within the company.

A mixture of office based analyst work and external visits to the vessels.

Port Services Agents (Freight)

Location: Portsmouth

based in Portsmouth International Port

1 Permanent contract and 1 Fixed Term contract                       Full time (40 hours)

Condor Ferries operates a fleet of 4 vessels between the UK south coast (Portsmouth and Poole), the Channel Islands and France (St Malo and Cherbourg). 

We are currently looking for two Port Services Agents (Freight) to join our small team in our Freight Department, based in the Condor Ferry offices at Portsmouth International Port

As part of our Team you will be involved in aspects of customer service over the telephone, email and directly with our customers. We operate in a very competitive industry, where our customers demand high levels of customer service. It is therefore essential that successful candidates will ensure these high standards are achieved and maintained. You will also possess the following attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Confident telephone manner
  • Experience in customer skills would be an advantage
  • Flexibility
  • Accurate keyboard skills
  • Reliability

This position involves working shifts and weekends worked on a rota basis. The hours of operation normally cover from 0600 hrs to 2200 hrs.

Cabin Steward Assessment Centre for

Passenger Services Agent

Location: Poole

Passenger Services Agent    - Based in Poole, Dorset

Part time - 20 hours per week- shift work

Seasonal - 1 March 2016 to 31 October 2016 

Condor Ferries operates a fleet of 4 vessels between the UK south coast (Portsmouth and Poole), the Channel Islands and France (St Malo and Cherbourg).                         

We have a vacancy for a part time Passenger Services Agent based at Condor’s offices at the Ferry Terminal in Poole. The contract is for a fixed term commencing 1 March 2016 through to 31 October 2016. 

Main responsibilities of a Passenger Services Agent are:- 

  • Assisting with the checking-in, marshalling and loading and unloading, collection of passengers, vehicles and freight/goods to and from all company vessels.
  • Assist in the preparation and completion of all paperwork and administrative procedures relating to all vehicle, passenger, freight and vessel movements.
  • Provide a reservations service, via telephone and face to face, supporting our central reservations office.

Key Skills & Personal Profile

  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Articulate & confident telephone manner
  • Accurate keyboard/computer skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Full UK driving licence preferred 

Reporting to the local Passenger Services Management Team, you will be expected to work shifts which may include unsocial hours, weekends and bank holidays.
