Cafe Assistant

Location: Guernsey

We have a seasonal opportunity for a full time Café Assistant to work in our Café and Snack Bar, situated at the Guernsey Ferry terminal.   

The café is open seven days a week, and operates between the hours of 07:00 and 21:00, (dependent on ship sailing times), so there will be a requirement to work shifts which may include weekends and Bank holidays.

We are looking for applicants who must have previous experience of working within a café environment, have excellent customer service skills, and preferably possess Food Hygiene certification.

This role is for 40 hours per week on a Fixed Term contract based in Guernsey.  

Applicants must have a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance – a uniform will be provided.

Freight Agent

Location: Jersey

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freight Agent in our Freight Department to join us at Condor. This is an exciting opportunity to continue your career with a leading successful local company. Condor Ferries was founded in 1964 and initially operated a passenger service between France and the Channel Islands. In 1987 the first service linking the Channel Islands with the UK was launched. Not only doing we supply passenger services but Freight services too. Condor Ferries is a multi-sited company with Ports and offices in; Poole, Portsmouth, Guernsey, Jersey, and St Malo.

Freight Agent is based in Jersey, reporting to the Freight Manager. The purpose of the role is ensure excellent customer service is delivered to our Freight customers, ensuring best working practices are adhered to at all times to ensure a positive customer experience.  

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Assist with checking-in, marshalling and loading and unloading, collection of passenger vehicles and freight/goods to and from all company vessels
  •  Assist in the preparation and completion of all paperwork and administrative procedures relating to all vehicle, passenger, freight and vessel movements

  • Have an understanding of daily targets and attend the team briefings

  • Be competent in cash and till handling procedures

The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including good grammar and punctuation skills, and be computer literate. You will also possess excellent customer services skills, be a team player and hold a full driving Licence.

Freight Operations Clerk

Location: Guernsey

We are looking for a Freight Operations Clerk to be based in Guernsey, reporting to the Freight Manager.

This role will assist in completion of the Freight movements within the Port of Guernsey, including manifesting, control of the loading and discharge processes, and carrying out inspections of trailers and freight vehicles.

This is a varied role combining office duties and activities in and around the Port. This is a Customer facing role with a strong focus on providing a high quality of service for our clients.

To apply for this role you must have experience of using Microsoft Office packages and the ability to pick up new IT systems quickly. You must have an excellent level of customer service skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly within a fast paced environment.

This role also requires a high level of initiative, strong problem solving, and the ability to remain level headed and calm in a sometimes hectic environment.
