Best beach destinations in Guernsey

Cobo Bay

Cobo Bay is one of the most popular beaches in Guernsey. Once you wander down and experience the stunning white sands and crystal clear sea for yourself, you’ll realise why. Perfect for a full day on the beach, there is a selection of eateries and shops only moments away so you won’t have to travel far to fuel up and sample some of the island’s delicious food. At low tide, visitors are able to explore the rockpools and see what lies in the island’s waters. The bay is only 3 miles away from St Peter Port, making it an ideal stop off for a dip in the sea to cool down after a busy day discovering the excitement the capital has to offer.

Grandes Rocques Bay

Grandes Rocques Bay, also known as Saline Bay, is located just to the north of the popular Cobo Bay. The bay consists of a large crescent of soft golden sand, perfect for paddling and swimming, with the wet sand at low tide making it perfect for making sandcastles. For those who like to explore the island by foot, you can take the coastal path from Grandes Rocques beach, past the fort and on to Port Soif where you can enjoy beautiful views and a mostly flat route. There is a kiosk serving up hot and cold food, snacks and ice-creams, perfect for a light snack throughout the day.

Rocquaine Bay

Rocquaine Bay on the west of the island is one of Guernsey’s shingle beaches with patches of golden sand where you can set up camp for a beach day. Its location makes it ideal for enjoying breathtaking views over Fort Grey, a Martello Tower built in 1804 to defend Guernsey's west coast. There are a range of eateries nearby for food and drink, with indoor and outdoor dining so you can still enjoy the fresh sea air depending on the weather. Parking, kiosks and public toilets at the bay mean you can make the most out of Rocquaine’s glorious views and crisp waters with little stress.

Port Soif Bay

Port Soif is a crescent-shaped natural harbour, sheltered by sand dunes making it a great beach for swimming and sunbathing. Located in the north west of the island, the bay has a coastal path behind the sand dunes that leads out down the west coast - perfect for dog walkers and those wanting to explore the beautiful island scenery. The beach is popular at sunset and ideal for an evening barbeque. Don’t worry, if you don’t want to prepare a barbeque there’s a kiosk serving hot and cold food that all ages can tuck in to.
