Directions& Facilities

Our ferries from Portsmouth Port connect the UK with Jersey and Guernsey. Ferry crossings to Guernsey sail 5 times a week and take around 12 hours 55 minutes onboard Commodore Clipper. Ferry crossings to Jersey sail 6 times a week during peak season on Commodore Clipper and take a duration of 10 hours and 20 minutes. 

When you arrive at the port please follow signs to check-in. For motorists, we advise arriving 90-120 minutes before departure and check-in will close 60 minutes before your scheduled departure time. Please leave plenty of time to arrive at the port for check-in.

For foot passengers, we advise arriving 70 minutes before departure and check-in will close 40 minutes before your scheduled departure time. Please leave plenty of time to arrive at the port for check-in.

Disabled Services

If you require assistance getting through the Port please advise the ferry company when booking or a member of staff when checking in. There are toilet facilities for people with disabilities throughout the Port. A special minibus service is available to help wheelchair users or those with reduced mobility and their companions board the ship. Assistance is also available for those travelling by car, enabling parking on the car decks close to the lifts. The Port car park has designated spaces for people with disabilities and/or reduced mobility and there are additional bays adjacent to the main terminal building. Please request these at the time of booking. An accessible toilet with ceiling tracking hoist, height adjustable adult-sized changing bench and peninsular toilet is located on the ground floor of the terminal building. It is accessible by radar key.

There is a bureau de change available in the ferry terminal



There are no payphones available


Lost Property & Left Luggage

Left luggage - £4 per item, open 0600-2330 at the Security desk in the terminal building. There is no overnight facility. Electronic equipment can be stored and a security tag will be placed on the item(s) prior to passengers leaving them. This facility is available to passengers travelling in/out of the port only



Cafeteria – This is now a bar (open 1200 to 2300 daily), café and a Costa coffee lounge (open 0630 – 2300 daily)



“Amigo” shop – snacks/drinks/newspapers


Cashpoint Machine

Cashpoint machine – there is one on the ground floor of the terminal, dispenses Sterling & Euros. If you’re in a hurry, Travelex also have a foreign currency ATM that dispenses euros and sterling. An admin fee of £1.99 applies for orders of less than £100

By Car

From London, take the M3 or A3. From the Midlands take the M3 to the A34, and from the South West take the A31. From Bristol and South Wales take the A36. These roads lead to the M275, from which an exit road leads directly to the port. If using a Satellite Navigation System to get to Portsmouth Ferry Terminal please use the postcode PO2 8SP

There are frequent train services between Portsmouth and London Waterloo, the journey takes 85 minutes. Your destination stations are "Portsmouth & Southsea", a short bus or taxi ride from the Port. Please ensure when arriving in to Portsmouth Train Station you leave plenty of time to check in at Portsmouth Ferry Terminal. For the latest train times please visit: South West trains


Travelling on Foot
Before you travel, we will have emailed you an e-boarding pass. Please print this off and bring it with you on the day. Or, if you plan to show it on a mobile phone or tablet, please have this ready for our port team when you arrive at the terminal, with the brightness turned up.

Travelling by Car
Please print off the e-boarding pass we will have sent you, and bring it with you on the day, placing the itinerary page (pink copy) on your dashboard.
