Liberation Day is on 9th May 2025.
Jersey was occupied by German forces for almost 5 years and was liberated on the 9th of May 1945, marking the end of the Second World War. The Channel Islands were the only UK territories to be occupied by German Forces.
Liberation Day is celebrated every year on the island in the heart of St Helier. Ceremonial events will be held in Liberation Square and will include processions of marching contingents, a special sitting of the States Assembly, re-enactments, speeches, inspirational stories, the National Anthem, and motorcades. Expect to be transported back in time!
When the ceremonial events are finished, the celebrations can begin! You can celebrate with the locals and enjoy entertainment, live music, delicious food, and drinks, including a lineup of food trucks.
Plan your break to Jersey to celebrate Liberation Day.
