The best food spots of INTRA MUROS

Visiting St Malo is synonymous with the amazing food you’ll discover and taste while you’re there. If you’re going to see this historic region on foot for the first time, wandering around Intra Muros is the most authentic way of getting a true feel for the area. After taking walks along the walls of the town, you’ll need to find a place for a bite to eat and a refreshing drink. You can always go for the classic moules-frites or fruits de mer but look a little closer and you’ll find so much more.

TY Corner, 3 Place du Pilori
Galettes, crêpes, pizza and the most refreshing fresh fruit juices. What more could a tourist exploring Intra Muros ask for? Their savoury buckwheat galettes come with a range of toppings ranging from the classic egg and emmental cheese to seafood. You’ll find all the classic crêpe ingredients here along with a huge variety of fruit and vegetables to choose from and create your own fresh juice. And, after 6pm they do takeaway pizzas from just 6.50€. Bargain!

Timothy, 7 Rue de la Vieille Boucherie
Timothy in St Malo is an absolute gem of a find. You’ll be served fresh and local ingredients, be it for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The atmosphere is so relaxed, and you won’t feel rushed in the slightest to finish your meal. If you’re there for lunch, go for something deliciously French like a homemade quiche lorraine or a croque madame, each served with fresh salad topped with the most amazing dressing. Their fabulous dessert display will leave you making excuses about that diet you’ve been meaning to start too!

La Causerie, 17 Rue de Toulouse
Ready for dinner? La Causerie has found the perfect balance of an artistically modern interior fused with a quintessentially Breton menu. You won’t find the same menu year-round here; it completely depends on what’s in season in the local area. What you’ll certainly find however is at least one fish dish cooked to perfection. The portion sizes are designed for you to have at least two courses, so be sure to take advantage of the fresh menu.

Le Bistrot du Rocher, 19 Rue de Toulouse
If you walk past this restaurant, you’ll be committing a cardinal sin. In here you’ll find absolute perfection in the form of authentic Breton cooking. The interior doesn’t give much away – a small cosy setup with about 10 tables. The menu changes depending on what’s in season and what fish was caught that day, so you’ll know you’re always being served the freshest of ingredients. If they happen to have John Dory on the menu, or St Pierrre poisson as it’s referred to locally, order it! The fish will be cooked until glistening and just right, served with the most delicious vegetables and light fragrant sauce.
