Yes, the currency is sterling, the same as the UK, so you’re free to pay using British Pounds. You’ll usually be given Jersey money back as change when shopping so you don’t need to worry about changing your money over before your visit. There are cash machines that accept all major credit and debit cards should you wish to use them.
Unfortunately, the Jersey Pound isn’t legal tender in the UK, so you will have to exchange your Jersey Pounds back to British Pounds.
The Jersey Pound is an issue of banknotes by the States of Jersey denominated in pound sterling, similar to bank notes issued in Scotland and Northern Ireland. The pound notes feature some of Jerseys’ most famous landmarks such as La Rocco Tower and it’s one of the last places you’ll find one-pound notes. The pound notes have the same value as British Pounds.
The Jersey pound is worth the same as the British Pound. A pound sterling in Jersey = £1. 1 JEP = 1 GBP
It is recommended this is changed to English notes. Some establishments will allow you to pay using Scottish currency, others may not.
