We were delighted to welcome a very special guest aboard Voyager last week as we sailed from Poole to Guernsey for the Island’s Liberation Day commemorations.
Barry Noble, appearing as Sir Winston Churchill, travelled to Guernsey to take part in this significant occasion, bringing a sense of history and wartime spirit to the journey.
Liberation Day, held annually on 09 May, marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Channel Islands at the end of the Second World War. It remains one of the most important dates in Guernsey’s calendar, with the Island coming together to remember, reflect and celebrate freedom.
The commemorations echo the words spoken by Prime Minister Winston Churchill in 1945:
“…and our dear Channel Islands are also to be freed today.”
Barry is pictured at the helm aboard Voyager from Poole alongside Captain Simon Bagshaw.
