The survey results were based on almost 2,000 customer responses to criteria for companies serving domestic routes, which included customer service, ease of booking, value for money plus the facilities and services on board. Of the six ferry companies reviewed, NorthLink Ferries placed first with 80%, Condor came second with 71% and Isle of Man Steam Packet finished sixth with 56%.
Christophe Mathieu, Condor’s CEO, said:
"We are very pleased to receive this endorsement, as it comes from passengers. I know there is work to be done and we must continue to improve in a number of areas. However, we are committed to the best possible customer experience and these results suggest the company is moving in the right direction. Staff are also our most important asset and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of them for their hard work."
The survey of 1,954 Which? members was conducted in December 2023 and was based on ferry journeys over the past three years, with results featured in the May edition of the magazine.
Each firm was assessed on its average car price in 2024, value for money customer service, ease of booking, along with onboard criteria of passenger space, facilities, food and drink, cleanliness and the toilet facilities. The customer score is calculated by combining overall satisfaction and likelihood to recommend.
