Travelling to Guernsey with your pet

Forget leaving your precious pets at home and book a pet-friendly holiday to Guernsey for your next trip! We've got everything you need to know about travelling to this stunning island with amazing pet-friendly accommodation, so pack your bags, your car, get the treats and get ready for a trip to remember.

We don't allow pets in our passenger lounges, apart from recognised assistance dogs. If you're travelling on foot, then your pet must be in a cage that meets RSPCA requirements. They'll be kept in the dedicated pet area of our car decks, but don't worry - talk to a member of staff during your sailing and they'll be happy to escort you to see them. If you're travelling by car, please leave your windows open slightly for that fresh sea breeze, and leave them some water. If you want to travel with your pets a little closer to you, Condor Islander has our first pet-friendly cabins.

Tips for a relaxing dog-friendly holiday in Guernsey

Requirements for bringing your dog

As the same regulations apply for Guernsey as they do for the mainland UK, it's worth getting your dog a quick nose-to-tail health check at their vets before you travel. This way you can travel stress-free knowing that their microchip details, insurance and vaccines are up to date in case of the worst-case scenario. It's also doing a quick flea and worming treatment before travel to remove the possibility of any unpleasant pests.

Onboard

Although pets must stay on the car deck for the sailing, you can visit them whilst escorted by a member of staff. This is weather-dependent however, but do know that we will be checking up on your pets at regular intervals during the sailing.
If you're staying on Condor Islander in one of the pet-friendly cabins, please ensure that your pooch is muzzled when outside your vehicle, the cabin and the kennel.

Pet Essentials

When packing, it's good to make sure that you have a checklist of all the necessary items for your pet to bring with you, as some hotels may not include them in the pet welcome packs. Make sure you have enough food, waste bags, their leash and collar with ID tags and cleaning items for those sandy beach walks.

Dog-friendly activities in Guernsey

Dog-friendly beaches

Most of the beaches in Guernsey will allow dogs at some point throughout the year and the majority are pet-friendly during the summer months. Please be aware that dogs are never permitted around bathing pools, on Lihou Island and causeway to Lihou. Dogs are not allowed on these beaches: L'Eree, Cobo Bay, Vazon Bay, Pembroke and L'Ancresse Bays, Fermain Bay and Petit Bot.

The best dog walks in Guernsey

With sprawling coastlines and acres of countryside, there's tonnes of space for you and your four legged friend to explore. Take a stroll through the charming village of Bordeaux, or venture into Guernsey's wild south-east coast; there's so much to choose from.

Dog-friendly pubs and restaurants

Although it can be hard to find pet-friendly places to eat, we've got a couple for you. The Duke of Richmond Hotel has a dog-friendly bar area and terrace, and The Plough is perfect for that post-walkies meal.

Dog-friendly attractions

Several attractions on Guernsey are dog-friendly, such as Candie Gardens! There are many nearby parks that are just waiting to be explored such as L'Ancresse Common and Delancey Park. Dogs must be on leads here and well-behaved (so make sure you bring plenty of treats!)
