  • Freight Operations Clerk

    We have an opportunity for a Freight Operations Clerk to join the team on a permanent, full time basis.

    Location: Guernsey Port

    The purpose of this role is to complete the Freight movements within the Port of Guernsey, including manifesting, control of the loading and discharge process, and carrying out inspections of trailers and freight vehicles.


    This is a varied role combining office duties and activities in and around the Port.


    Some of the Key Responsibilities for this role include:


    • Overseeing and managing the preparation/completion of all paperwork relating to vessel movements, ensuring that all legislative procedures are followed and that paperwork is accurate
    • Managing all day to day operational and commercial activities in relation to freight requirements
    • Ensuring that all company and legislative procedures relating to vessel movements are carried out in accordance with Condor requirements

    The successful candidate will have a good level of IT understanding, including experience of using Microsoft Office packages, as well as the ability to pick up new systems quickly. They will have a strong Health and Safety awareness, and excellent Customer Service skills. Ideally, the successful candidate will have previous experience of working within a freight environment.


    The location for this role is Guernsey.

  • Seasonal Cabin Crew

    Spend the summer with the Condor team, as part of the Cabin Crew on-board our high-speed ferries!

     

    Location: Poole

    We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic individuals to join our crew, who will be responsible for delivering a first-class customer experience on board our high-speed ferries sailing between Poole and the Channel Islands. This is an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career in the travel industry.

    We have a number of vacancies on a fixed term contract until October 2018 on a full-time basis, which have the potential to be extended or even made permanent should you do well in the role.

    What will my role onboard involve?

    Safety is at the heart of our business, therefore the main responsibility of our deck crew and cabin crew is to ensure that our passengers are kept safe at all times, including in an emergency. Other responsibilities include welcoming and assisting passengers, serving passengers in the onboard shops and cafes, and ensure that the ship is kept clean and tidy at all times.

    Condor Ferries operates on a 24 hour, 7 days per week operation, which means that shifts cover early mornings, nights and over weekends too. The working pattern will be 4 x 12 hour shifts, and then 4 days off.

    The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and will be able to work effectively under pressure as part of a fun and energising team. You will need to be able to manage your time effectively and have a flexible and adaptable approach. Experience in a customer facing role is essential, and experience within the retail or food & beverage industry would be beneficial.

    The purpose of this role is to deliver the highest level of customer service skills at all times and to ensure a positive customer experience for our passengers.

    • To assist with checking-in, marshalling, loading/unloading and collection of passengers and vehicles to and from all company vessels

    • To assist in achieving targets and standards as set down by the Ports and Operations Management team

    • To be competent in cash and till handling procedures

    The successful candidate will have previous customer service experience, including excellent communication skills – both verbal and written. They will be a strong team player and have relevant computer skills.

    The purpose of this role is to ensure the Crew Resource Department is supported on a day to day basis including crew logistics, travel and accommodation, primarily responsible for the planning of Onboard Services and Catering Crew across the network.

    Some of the Key Responsibilities for this role include:

    • To publish monthly crew rosters and circulate to appropriate vessels
    • To act as point of contact for all crew travel requirements
    • Ensure all crew training and travel is arranged in accordance with Crew Travel Policy
    • Ensure compliance with company SMS with regards to crew certification and manning of company vessels.

    The successful candidate will have excellent IT skills and experience of booking accommodation and travel for staff. They will have good written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to remain calm under pressure. Ideally, the successful candidate will also have experience of creating crew rosters.

  • Commercial Sales Consultant

    The Commercial team are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual to support the onboard selling initiative.

    Location: Poole

    The Commercial team are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual to support the onboard selling initiative. You would be accountable to the Commercial team and will also spend some time in the office working up plans and supporting the administrative elements of the function.

    You may be deployed on different vessels during the season, you will manage your own time and Rota ensuring the required hours are achieved each week, the key deliverables on board will be helping passengers to buy whilst in their seat, enticing them into the shop, getting passengers to sample or test products, selling through slow selling items and promotional offers, amongst other things. Customer interaction and selling techniques are a key part of this role also a second language would be beneficial, English, French or German given the routes operated. Job and product knowledge training will be provided.

    Key duties and responsibilities

    • Liaison with Head of Retail and F&B on key duties and plans
    • Undertakes and leads customer sampling on board.
    • Develops and delivers a programme of ‘in-seat’ and table top selling initiatives for both retail and F&B.
    • Monitors and implements merchandising plans on board
    • Supports the OBS Managers in office admin when shore based, shore time will be once a week in full season
    • Understands weekly APS targets and delivers and exceeds the company target.
    • Ensures all point of sale (POS) is in place and that all POS is current.
    • Further liaison with warehouse, Ops, Sales & Marketing and crew colleagues on sales priorities.

    The successful candidate will be customer service driven, enjoy interacting and responding to customers needs and display commercial awareness. They will also have strong teamwork skills and show desire to learn about products to enhance selling skills.

    Job Type: Full Time, 12-month Contract

    Salary: Up to £22,000.00

  • Relief Chief Cook

    We have an opportunity for a Relief Chief Cook to join the team on a full time, fixed term basis.

    Location: Portsmouth

    The purpose of this role is to be responsible for all food outlets, brassiere and crew mess room and to ensure there is a consistent standard of quality and presentation of food. They will be responsible for the ordering of food stocks, ensuring that stores are put away correctly and a stock rotation system is being used at all times, ensuring that certain items of food are date stamped.


    Some of the Key Responsibilities for this role include:


    • Responsible for the Galley crew and to be aware at all times the importance of maintaining a clean working practice, ensuring all sections are thoroughly scrubbed down after service
    • To ensure any food wastage is kept to a minimum and entered on the appropriate forms
    • Ensuring that the crew food is kept to satisfied standard and kept up to date with any comments
    • People management and leadership responsibilities


    The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and hold a Chief Cook CoC. They will have a high attention to detail and understand the importance of hygiene and cleanliness with food preparation areas.


    The intended location for this role is onboard our Conventional vessels.

  • Environmental Officer

    We have an exciting new opportunity for an Environmental Officer to join the Safety & Compliance team on a full time, fixed term basis.

    Location: Poole

    The purpose of this role is to have ownership of the Company environmental policy and provide leadership and experience in environmental initiatives.
