Fleet Engineering Intern

Disciplines accepted:
A predicted 2:1 degree (minimum) in either a BEng, MEng or MSc
            - Mechanical
            - Naval Architecture / Marine

 

The role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual wishing to gain work experience in the marine industry. In addition to the technical analyst role, the chosen candidate will gain first-hand experience of working with and around experienced Marine Engineers, both in the Fleet Engineering office and in the field (through exposure to yearly ship dry-docks). This experience will provide a good foundation for any candidate interested in pursuing a career as a marine engineer or with a ship classification society.

You will be employed as a full time Fleet Engineer and be treated as such.

Students aren’t taken on as an extra resource; they are needed to fulfil the role of an engineer and contribute to the design and development of the vessels. The work is real, interesting and relevant to your studies.

As part of your responsibilities as a Fleet Engineering Intern you will be required to communicate with external suppliers as well as other departments within the company.

A mixture of office based analyst work and external visits to the vessels.

Port Services Agent - Seasonal

We are looking to recruit seasonal full and part time Port Services Agents to operate in Guernsey Port and Jersey Port

 

Key responsibilities will include

 

  • To ensure all aspects of the company health and safety policy are adhered to ensuring a safety first approach to all tasks.
  • High standard of customer service in accordance with Condor Ferries standards.
  • The efficient and courteous answering of incoming telephone calls or in person bookings and enquiries.
  • To assist in the checking-in, marshalling and loading and unloading, collection of passengers, vehicles and freight/goods to and from all company vessels.
  • To assist in the preparation and completion of all paperwork and administrative procedures relating to all vehicle, passenger, freight and vessel movements.
  • Carry out any additional duties as required by the company.
  • To up sell to customers and provide great customer service.
  • To have an understanding of daily targets and attend the team briefings.
  • Be competent in cash and till handling procedures.

  • Articulate & confident telephone manner
  • Accurate keyboard/computer skills

Warehouse Agents (Seasonal)

Warehouse Agents                                        ( Seasonal )

Based at Poole Harbour

Condor Ferries is looking to recruit seasonal Warehouse Agents to work in the Condor warehouse based in Poole Port.

 

The purpose of this role is to ensure the safe and efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of goods in a timely manner and in accordance with all relevant HMRC legislation and Company procedures, and to maintain the working safety culture throughout the warehouse operation. Also to ensure the timely operation of all daily warehouse functions ensuring the warehouse meets and exceeds company expectations.

 

The successful applicant would be expected to hold a full Driving Licence and be able to tow trailers (Cat. C1E) plus a valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence. Previous experience of working within a warehouse environment and working as a team would also be desirable.

 

Applicants must be able to start work on Monday 16 March 2015  in order to

undertake training.

 

The position involves working a 40 hour week with shift work, and occasional working on weekends and bank holidays.  In return you can expect a competitive rate of pay and excellent concessionary travel on our fleet.
