Top family days out

Why not incorporate a day-out to one of the South’s great visitor attractions. Below is a whistles top tour of eight of the best. All are within easy reach of Condor Ferries’ Ports in Weymouth, Poole and Portsmouth.

Monkey World
Wildlife sanctuary and outdoor play park
Set in 65 acres of woodland and home to over 240 primates of 15 different species. Many have been rehabilitated after being abused or used as photographer’s props or circus animals. Stroll through the park and come face to face with these intelligent creatures, before letting the kids go ape in the extensive adventure playground.
Monkey World is just off the A352, 30 mins from Weymouth Ferry Port and 25 mins from Poole.

Weymouth SEALIFE Centre
Marine life and family fun
Dive beneath the sea for close encounters with marine life set in their individual pods. Enjoy a day full of fun with indoor and outdoor attractions including the new Crocodile Creek, where you’ll plunge into the waters with real life crocodiles on a safari style adventure.
The Sealife Centre is off the A353, only 10 mins from Weymouth Ferry Port, and less than an hour from Poole.

LEGOLAND Windsor
Rides, shows and attractions
Discover 150 acres of beautiful parklands where children aged 3-12 can take to the road, soar through the skies and sail the seas in complete safety. Over 50 interactive rides, a driving school and live shows vie to keep all members of the family occupied whatever the weather.
Located off the M25 Legoland is less than two hours away from Poole Ferry Port and 1½ hours from Portsmouth.

Thorpe Park
Rollercoaster heaven
Ride Rocky Express, the fast paced train that climbs and dips on its journey or the world’s most terrifying new rollercoaster Saw - the first ever horror themed roller coaster. Discover extreme adventure rides for the brave to family friendly rides for younger thrill seekers.
Situated between junctions 11 and 13 on the M25, less than 2 hours from Poole Ferry Port and just over an hour from Portsmouth.

Marwell Wildlife
Wildlife sanctuary
Marvel at the many wonders of the world’s wildlife. Visit the African Valley where ostriches roam wild or a tropical world where you can explore the secrets of the rainforest. Marwell Wildlife is home to over 250 exotic and endangered species from all around the world.
Off Junction five on the M27 eastbound from Bournemouth, and just over one hour from Poole Ferry Port.

Paultons Park
Family theme park
Packed with over 50 exciting attractions, there’s something for all the family. From gentle rides to more hair-raising experiences such as the raging river log flume, or the parks longest, fastest rollercoaster, the Cobra. For the ultimate thrill, ride the Edge, their new super scary rollercoaster or let the little ones get wet in the new water splash park. There’s plenty of cafes or try a picnic in the wooded grounds.
Situated just off exit 2 on the M27, it is around 40 minutes from Poole Ferry Port.

Tank Museum
World’s best collection of tanks
Enjoy the exhibitions that explore the story of tanks and tank crews spanning almost hundred years of history. Climb into the commander’s seat of a main battle tank and go for a ride, or take the ‘Behind the Scenes’ tour for access of museum areas never seen before.
Located in Bovington, the Tank Museum is 35 minutes away from both Weymouth and Poole Ferry Ports.

Lulworth Estate
Chill out along the Jurassic coast
Enjoy Lulworth Castle in its 12,000 acres of landscaped parkland, relax at Lulworth Cove formed millions of years ago, or visit the Animal Farm with the children.
Off the A352, approximately 30 minutes from Poole and Weymouth Ferry Ports.
