Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Classical Extravaganza

The Bournemouth Symphony Ochestra returns to Meyrick Park with our Classic Extravaganza featuring a selection of the best symphonic music in the world!

Kicking off with Shostakovich's joyous Festive Overture, the concert also includes Sibelius' rousing Finlandia, Rachmaninov's beautiful Vocalise and a quick trip to the cinema courtesy of Bernstein's iconic dances from West Side Story and Zimmer's powerful soundtrack from Gladiator.

There is also Ravel's incredible Bolero - as used by Torvill and Dean to such great effect, Tchaikovsky's romantic Sleeping Beauty Waltz and Saint-Saen's spooky Danse Macabre. The evening reaches a colourful climax with Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks, appropriately accompanied by a stunning pyrotechnic and fireworks display and Tchaikovsky's explosive 1812 Overture - complete with replica cannons
