This June, come and learn a few words of Gallo in Monterfil. ‘Gallésie en fête’ is a festival full of rhythm with a slight taste of strawberry, thanks to the local aperitif known as 'godinette', which it would be a crime not to try. 20,000 visitors come here each year to discover the life led by Gallesian people back in Gallo times.
A celebration of Gallo culture, this event is well established now, as it has been taking place for over thirty years. ‘Gallésie en fête’ goes from strength to strength, attracting more and more visitors each year for a whirlwind of exuberant fun, organised by three local festive associations. 'No entrance fee, no gates and no costumes', states the festival proudly. Each year there are music competitions, traditional daytime and evening festivities, cabarets and concerts, as well as traditional games from Brittany and afar; not forgetting the traditional pig-roast and the sacred 'godinette'. With just one little glass of the delicious strawberry liqueur, you are certain to go away feeling a little more Gallesian.
