The Pig is set in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, and was the first in the portfolio for this completely fresh and imaginative approach to the country hotel.

The antithesis of the traditional country house hotel, this is really a restaurant with rooms; the focus is very much on the fabulous, uncomplicated and simple home grown garden food, true to the micro seasons and influenced by the forest, with the emphasis squarely on fresh, clean flavours. Whatever is not grown here in the kitchen garden is locally sourced within a 25 mile radius - immediacy from garden to plate is THE PIG’s trademark.

To achieve this there is the ‘team of three’ – chef, gardener and forager. The kitchen is over seen by Head Chef Dan Gover, and the menu based on the finest and freshest seasonal ingredients that are produced sustainably and locally.

THE PIG in the wall

Offering rooms and breakfast with a difference, THE PIG - in the wall is located within Southampton’s historic medieval walls by the waterfront.

The sibling of THE PIG, the award-winning Brockenhurst-based restaurant with rooms,  comprises of 12 bedrooms, with room rates starting from £130 per night. A light breakfast is available at an additional charge.

Designed once again by Judy Hutson, THE PIG – in the wall has the same informal, laid back atmosphere as THE PIG. Offering a touch of luxury combined with homely charm, the bedrooms boast assorted furnishings, personal touches, comfy beds, ‘larders’ stocked with snacks and drinks and Nespresso machines.

The rooms are divided into ‘Snug’: quiet, intimate and quirky rooms located in the eaves, with original beams, slanted ceilings and walk-in monsoon showers; ‘Comfy’ with their six foot beds and en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers and ‘Spacious’, with the added benefit of a stand-alone roll top bath, some of which are actually within the bedroom.

This little piglet also has a lounge serving salads and light bites such as charcuterie boards, together with great wines by the glass. It’s also a place where you can pop in for a coffee and a pastry.

Space does not allow for a restaurant, but for lunch or dinner THE PIG is just 20 minutes away, and complimentary transfers and reservations can be made for guests.

THE PIG on the beach

The old coastal villa of the Bankes family of Kingston Lacey is a whimsical and slightly bonkers combination of Arts and Craft and Victorian architecture; imagine The Adam’s Family summer beach house and you’ve got the picture. Formerly The Manor House Hotel, it has been lovingly restored in the same relaxed, quirky style that has become THE PIG’s signature - a new restaurant with rooms has been born.

THE PIG - on the beach’s greenhouse restaurant offers guests the finest coastline sea views in the UK looking out to Old Harry Rocks with boats bobbing about idly.  From garden to plate, what cannot be grown in THE PIG’s kitchen garden will be sourced within a 25-mile radius.  Head kitchen gardener Jo Macina has been busy nurturing her veg and herb garden producing fennel, courgettes, pea shoots, garden beans and Isle of Wight tomatoes.  The fruit cages are planted with blueberries, raspberries, blackcurrants and more.  Some appetisers include local delights such as Dorset Whelks & Wild Garlic Butter and Purbeck Eggs with Verbena Mayo.
