Travel Etiquette GUIDE

Be the best traveller you can be with the Condor Ferries Travel Etiquette Guide

Whether it’s the journey of life, or a short journey on a high-speed ferry, being mindful can make all the difference. By taking time to appreciate each other, and the environment around us, we can arrive relaxed, happy, and ready for our holiday.

In fact, 3 in 5 Brits want fellow travellers to be more mindful and have better etiquette, so here are ten simple rules to enjoying a happier journey.

1. Keep your feet grounded

The perfect sitting position is to place your feet on the floor – not the seat. Not only are you channeling positive vibes from the earth below, you’re also keeping the seat clean for other passengers – good vibes for everyone!

2. NO NEED TO SHOUT!

We know you’re excited and want to tell everyone about your journey, but please don’t shout into your mobile. It’s only funny when Dom Joly does it.

3. Mindful singing

Singing is the sound of the soul. But listening to a passenger singing along to a song on their headphones can be soul destroying. So altogether now – no loud singing. It’s the simplest way to keep everyone in harmony.

4. A problem shared becomes everyone’s problem

Forgot to pack your underwear? Bad-hair day? We’re sorry to hear it – especially when you’re talking loudly. So please take a deep breath, relax, and keep your conversations at a low volume.

5. Enjoy a drink responsibly

You can have too much of a good thing. So if you, or a fellow traveller feels a little tipsy, just take a break and grab a glass of water. Cheers.

6. Little ears are listening

Children don’t miss a thing, so please make sure you keep the chat family friendly. And if you’ve got any clean jokes, we’d love to hear!

7. Smell swell

All that packing for a holiday can be a bit of a workout. So if you need a little refresh just grab a deodorant in the Duty-Free shop.

8. Loud laughter isn’t funny

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! See, it can easily get annoying.

9. Tidy ship. Tidy mind.

A space free of rubbish is a space that’s relaxed and calm. So please help us keep it that way, and together we can find happiness. Altogether now…Ohmmmmmmm.

10. Be mindful with your mouthful

It’s good to chew. It allows you to savour the flavour of your food and even reduces indigestion. In fact, the only bad thing about chewing is hearing it.

So, whether you’re just getting into travelling or have been travelling for decades, it’s never too late to become a more considerate traveller.
