Protecting passengers and crew

 

At Condor Ferries, we take the health and well-being of passengers and crew very seriously.


We are monitoring the current situation and remain in regular dialogue with the States in both Jersey and Guernsey along with French and UK authorities. Our existing policies and procedures are in line with the guidance available and we can reassure customers that we will respond to this evolving situation in the most appropriate way possible.
Advice on travel can be obtained here and any updates relevant to Condor Ferries passengers will be made available on our website.

Over recent days the UK and French governments have all announced a series of measures to protect their citizens. In response to the situation we have had to undertake a series of changes to our sailing schedules. They are designed to protect all passengers and crew at this exceptional time. Latest Updates

On Tuesday 17 March, the States of Guernsey issued new requirements. Anyone travelling to the Bailiwick of Guernsey from anywhere in the world, including the UK and Jersey will have to self-isolate for 14 days. With effect from 00.01 on Thursday 19 March 2020. The decision to insist on 14 days self-isolation for anyone entering the Bailiwick is a significant change and one which has the potential to impact a number of Islanders. All evidence shows us that if we can contain the virus and prevent community seeding we can lessen the burden on our health and care services. Self-isolation is difficult but the guidance must be adhered to. As well as not going to work, school/childcare, anyone in self-isolation must stay at home and not think that it is alright to just pop out to the shops, have friends round, or go for a walk. Anyone in self-isolation having entered the Bailiwick who develops symptoms, however mild, of a cough, fever or shortness of breath must ring the coronavirus helpline on 01481 756938 and 01481 756969. Anyone travelling to France will need to fill in one of the attached documents “Attestation de deplacement derogatoire” this form is a requirement by law due to the COVID-19 restrictions in France and must be completed by all arriving customers before they disembark the vessel. Special arrangements have been introduced for everyone entering Jersey.

Upon arrival you will be asked to submit the completed health questionnaire form to identify which countries you have travelled to in the last 14 days, and whether you have any flu-like symptoms. Please see our travel advice for passengers arriving into Jersey.

Sailing Safely

The cleanliness of our ships and ports is of utmost importance so procedures have been reviewed and stepped up to give you peace of mind:


• A detailed deep clean and hygiene plan is in place to ensure passengers and crew are protected
• Cleaning is carried out on board every 1-2 hours, when passengers have vacated and our teams deployed for this use strong anti-bacterial materials
• We have increased the deployment of anti-bacterial hand sanitisers
• Passengers are recommended to familiarise themselves with advice through Travel Health Pro these guidelines include washing your hands, how to handle coughing or sneezing, feeling unwell, and general advice on cleanliness and disinfecting.

Travelling by sea provides a different experience as ports are generally open and roomy and once you are on board, ships are spacious and you can also head out to spend time on deck.

 

Flexible Tickets

Can I still book travel?

Yes, you can book with confidence in the knowledge that, as standard, all ferry bookings can easily be amended at no cost online up to 7 days prior to travel. A fare difference will apply should you chose to travel on a more expensive sailing. The measures listed above are designed to help minimise risk and to reassure all customers. We’re confident we can offer you a safe, relaxing journey and our teams are looking forward to welcoming you aboard.


I’m already booked, how do I make changes or cancel to my trip?

We recommend our customers to change their bookings to an alternate date. We have waived all amendment fees so you will only need to pay any difference in fare should you choose a more expensive sailing. If you’d like to amend your booking we’d suggest you do this via live chat here.

At the current time and in view of the coronavirus crisis, we are offering any customer who wants to cancel their booking or who has had their booking cancelled a 100% refund through a gift voucher, which we can issue right away for you and we will not charge you any cancelation fee. Your voucher will be valid for a period of 18 months and you can redeem it any time online or through our ports or contact centre.

If that is something you are not happy with, please email Customer Relations who will then review your email and let you know what action we can take based on your original booking. Please bear with us, however, as it may take some time to respond, given the extenuating circumstances at the moment.
