Booking the correct vehicle
So that Condor Ferries can make your journey as safe, punctual and comfortable as possible, it is important that you give us accurate information about the size of your vehicle when you book.
In addition, the fare for your journey will vary depending on the size (length and height), cargo and type of your vehicle. The correct height of the vehicle is also required as vehicles over 1.85m (inclusive of items placed on the roof) cannot be accommodated in all parking areas onboard. Please note the maximum laden vehicle weight is 3.5 tonnes (equivalent to 2 tonnes axle weight) for our Fast Ferry services. Any vehicle exceeding this will be refused boarding.
If you travel in a vehicle with different dimensions to those on your booking form, you will be liable to an excess charge at the port of departure, and may be refused carriage.
Vehicle Dimensions
Height
It is essential to declare the correct height of your vehicle as vehicles over 1.85m (inclusive of items placed on the roof) cannot be accommodated in all parking areas onboard.
Length
Condor Ferries’ standard car length accommodates vehicles up to 5m in length (not including trailers or rear racks which must be booked as extras. If the length of your car is over 5m but under 6.5m please select this option when making your booking. It is important that you book your SUV or MPV using the right category and reflecting the roof height in your choice.
If you wish to book a vehicle plus trailer including caravans, boat and car trailers , motorhomes or any vehicle with a trailer where the combined length of the vehicle from the bonnet to the end of the trailer exceeds 6.5m long you should contact 0846 609 1024 to make your booking.
Weight
Some private vehicle categories are getting heavier both by design plus their ability to carry more passengers and their effects. Accordingly, Condor Ferries currently charges a small supplement for MPVs and SUVs. Please note the maximum laden vehicle weight is 3.5 tonnes (equivalent to 2 tonnes axle weight) for our Fast Ferry services and be sure to declare the correct length and height of the vehicle. Any vehicle exceeding the weight limit or wrongly declared will be refused boarding.

Rear Rack
Condor Ferries charges a small supplement for rear bicycle racks. Bicycles stacked on the roof of vehicles/trailers are not currently charged for, but must be declared as part of the overall height of the vehicle or vehicle trailer.
Caravans, Motorhomes, trailers over 1.75m in length
As we need to know the total length of your vehicle, the height and weight, please call our reservations team on 0845 609 1024 to make a booking. Condor Ferries does not charge booking fees to book via the phone. Caravans/motorhomes, boat, car or other trailers must not exceed a maximum weight of 3.5 tonnes when fully laden. It should be noted that on fast ferries, the carriage of towed caravans is restricted to three per sailing. Travel with motorhomes and caravans to the Channel Islands is strictly limited and a permit from those campsites able to accept such vehicles must be obtained before booking. Trailers
It is possible to book two types of towed trailers online: Baggage Trailer and Camping Trailers. At the time of booking the exact dimensions of the towed trailer is required as rates are calculated according to size. The maximum dimensions for trailers on the fast ferry are as follows:
- Baggage trailer up to 1.85 in length and up to 1.75m high
- Camping trailer up to 4m in length and up to 1.75m high (cannot be booked online)

Commercial Vehicles, Vans & Goods
The fares quoted online are valid only for vehicles or trailers used for non-commercial purposes and so do not apply to panel sided vehicles, trailers (other than camping/luggage trailers) and any other vehicles designed for the carriage of goods (including household effects) which are charged at freight rates.
Passengers travelling with commercial goods carried in private vehicles or personal baggage with household effects requiring documentation and presentation to Customs and Excise will be charged as freight also.
