Taking your Bicycle

Taking your Bicycle

Condor Ferries works hard to meet the needs of all our passengers including those travelling with families. Holidaying with children can at times be stressful, but with Condor Ferries we are here to make things as relaxing as possible.

Before you Travel

In order to be able to make your journey with Condor Ferries as easy as possible you must inform us at the time of booking if you will be travelling as a passenger on foot and taking your bicycle. Bicycles can be taken on as a passenger on foot free of charge, subject to availability. Due to space allocations onboard, the bicycle will need to be booked on to the journey. You can add your bicycle when making your booking on-line by selecting ‘Bicycle - wheeled on’ in the Extra’s page or you can contact us by calling 0345 609 1024.

If you have booked through an agent or tour operator you should advise them of your requirements, and ask them to update your booking.

Once you have contacted us, the bicycle will then be added to your booking. If you have not contacted us before you travel to alert us to your needs, we cannot assure the bicycle will be accepted for your journey.

Checking in as a passenger on foot with a Bicycle

Please ensure that you check in no later than 40 minutes before your departure time at the vehicle check-in desk, please show your booking confirmation, and if travelling to France your passport. You will then be given your boarding cards.

After receiving your boarding cards you will be directed through to queue with the vehicles before it is time to board the ship.

Generally there is no need to check panniers in, as long as they can be safely carried on the bike.

Embarkation as a passenger on foot with a Bicycle

When you embark, you will be asked to board the ship through the vehicle deck and you will be greeted by a member of staff who will load the bicycle.

The location of bike storage will differ depending on vessel and destination, and the ships staff will direct you to the appropriate area. Passengers are not to secure their own bikes – ships staff will secure the bikes using ships equipment at the end of the load.

Passengers are not to lock their bikes on the car deck, although panniers etc should be secured. Condor Ferries recommend that panniers are locked if left on the bike.

Appropriately sized baggage can be taken in to the cabin, but large items of baggage must remain with the bike, or be placed in the baggage pods. If unsure please speak to a member of the ships staff when boarding with your bicycle.

On boarding the ship you will be asked for your boarding cards. The stubs will be torn off and the cards returned to you. Your boarding cards should be kept with you at all times. You will need to show them if asked to do so, and if you wish to make a purchase in the onboard Duty Free shop.

Disembarking as a passenger on foot with a Bicycle

The Cabin Manager will announce when it is safe to disembark the ship at the port of arrival. When you return to the car deck to collect your bicycle, on busy sailings you may find that vehicles have been parked close together.

Please take care when moving around the car deck.

If you are travelling between the UK and the Channel Islands, then your passport is not needed. But don't forget you'll need a valid passport for travel to and from France.

Passengers travelling to and from St. Malo must ensure that their passport(s) is available for inspection and the correct and valid documentation is being carried. Visas are required by some non EEC nationals.
