Simon Edsall, Managing Director of Condor Ferries, said: "During 2011, our biggest success has been generating the 17% increase in sea passengers visiting Guernsey. We saw increases in passenger from our across our network - the UK, France and Jersey. This success was driven by a number of factors including, excellent marketing efforts, not just by ourselves but also by Visit Guernsey and the Island's hoteliers, the development of products such as better timings for French day-trippers, successful inter-island promotions and attracting UK visitors to Herm, as well as a favourable Sterling / Euro exchange rate.

Condor Passenger Figure Response

Ian Milner, Guernsey Director of Condor Ferries said:

“The significant increase in sea passenger arrivals is excellent news in these tough economic times and shows that Condor Ferries works hard to attract visitors to Guernsey. The figures are even better when seen in light of the fact that 2010 saw an increase in sea passenger movements because of the cancellation of air travel caused by the volcanic ash incident.

“The increase in passengers arriving by ferry has been generated by a rise in visitors to Guernsey from all three regions that Condor Ferries serves: France, the UK and Jersey. Condor is a strong supporter of the visitor economy and each year we spend hundreds of thousands of pounds promoting Guernsey abroad, the results of which can been seen in the 17.1% increase in sea passengers to the island during the first nine months of 2011.
