Portsmouth's contribution to the Dickens bicentenary will be a diverse, engaging and exciting local programme that will form part of Portsmouth's Cultural Olympiad celebrations. It will also contribute to the key delivery target of raising the city's profile as a Great Literary City.The Dickens Community Archive project will be at the heart of the Dickens 2012 which will include an ongoing exhibition at the City Museum involving major loans of Dickens' manuscripts. The 200th birthday itself will be marked with the traditional wreath-laying ceremony.
