Currency
The currency in Jersey is sterling. The States of Jersey issue their own notes and coins, but all UK notes and coins are legal tender.

Driving
Driving is on the left hand side. There is a maximum speed enforcement of 40 miles per hour, with further restrictions in built up areas. Drivers must be 21 or over.

Parking
Most public parking in Jersey is paid for by 'paycard', which can be bought at the Sand Street car park or from any shop or garage displaying the paycard symbol.

Shopping
Half day closing is on Thursdays because of the town markets. All the shops are closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

English is spoken by the majority of the population.

Climate
The climate is temperate with mild winters and cool sunny summers. The warmest months are August and September.

Camping
Condor Ferries offer the facility of carrying accompanied caravans. Caravans cannot be booked directly with Condor Ferries. An entry permit is required and reservations can be made through your campsite.

Voltage
Electricity is supplied at 240 volts (50 hertz). An adapter is needed if travelling from Continental Europe or further afield.

Insurance
Travellers from the UK are advised to take out travel insurance when visiting the Channel Islands. The islands lie outside the EU, which means that the European Heath Insurance Card (EHIC) is not valid.
