Condor Ferries was awarded the prestigious ‘Development of the Year’ accolade at this year’s Sibbett Gregory Poole Tourism Awards. The awards, sponsored by local commercial property agents, surveyors and town planners, Sibbett Gregory, recognise innovation, dedication and passion in Poole’s tourism industry.

Condor Ferries was presented with the ‘Development of the Year’ award at a prestigious ceremony held at the Harbour Heights Hotel in Poole. The award was decided by an independent judging panel made up of representatives from the Poole Tourism Management Board, Sibbett Gregory, the National Coastal Academy, the Borough of Poole, Poole Chamber of Commerce and Poole Tourism. The award recognises Condor Ferries’ contribution to the tourism industry in Poole.

Alicia Andrews, Executive Director – Commercial at Condor Ferries said: “We are delighted to be a winner in the Poole Tourism Awards. As the only ferry operator serving the Channel Islands from the UK, we recognise the important role our base in Poole plays in maintaining a vital link with the Islands and its impact on tourism, both in the Channel Islands and here in Poole. We are pleased that our service is benefiting the tourism trade in Poole.  Since Condor Liberation began operations from Poole in March she has successfully transported more than 200,000 passengers through Poole – an increase of more than 80% on 2014.

“We would like to congratulate the other award winners and nominees for the work they do, providing jobs and high-quality services and facilities for local people and the many visitors to Poole and the surrounding areas. Their dedication and investment make Poole an attractive destination for visitors and tourists.”

Jonathan Sibbett, Director at Sibbett Gregory, added: “The purpose of Poole’s Tourism Awards, and in particular Development of the Year, is to recognise those that have a significant impact beyond their own business, on Tourism and the reputation of the town.  Condor’s decision to invest in the Liberation and decision to move their base to Poole has stimulated the local economy and provided a major positive influence on tourism in the area. This award is a chance to acknowledge their investment and confidence in Poole which is benefiting so many other businesses.”
